Birds frequently get inside homes and become trapped. All of the windows and lights make finding their way out pretty confusing. It’s a bad situation for the people and pets living in the house and an even worse situation for the bird. It is very stressful for them and pretty frightening. They are not able to get food or water while inside and without help, they can die. They don’t want to be in your home any more than you do so they will need some help.
You may want to try to get them out of the house but like most homeowners, you probably do not have the equipment needed to safely guide a bird out of a home. So many homes have high ceilings now and high windows as well. The ability to fly keeps them higher up then we can usually reach so long nets are helpful but experience plays a part too. Birds can bite and it can be very painful when they do. A lot of birds are seed eaters so their beaks are designed to open seeds.
Another thing most people don’t realize is how fragile birds are. They have hollow bones so it is very easy to harm them. If they do get hurt, they may not do well when released so you always want to be sure they are okay before letting them go. We make it look easy in the video, but remember, we have many years of experience and we are very familiar with all species of birds and other wild animals. Please don’t attempt this on your own. If you have a bird in your home, give us a call.
